Ambulances were involved in nearly 6,000 crashes in 2008, resulting in more than 30 fatalities and 2,700 injuries. This highly interactive, six-hour course adapts National Safety Council defensive driving techniques to the unique nature of ambulance work. It trains drivers to navigate through traffic safely in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
A must for emergency medical services vehicle operators, this course promotes critical thinking during pressure situations. The course features videos that show situations ambulance drivers face every day, followed by a group discussion. Additional resources and techniques have helped this course receive approval by many state departments of health.
This program will prepare candidates to conduct the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course for EMT CEU’s, and Logisticare Compliance.
Time Frame: 8 hours classroom program
Prerequisite: NSC CEVO Course within the last 3 years
