NJAC 8:40 requires that individuals that operate Mobility Assistance Vehicles (MAV’s – also known as ambulettes or wheelchair vans) have certification in an approved assistance program. The MAV Training course the certification program for persons who are responsible for safely moving injured, infirm, or disabled persons who need specialized transportation assistance. The individuals who successfully pass the course are Certified Mobility Assistance Vehicle Operators (MAVOs).
This program prepares the candidate to present the MAVO certification program to individuals working in the medical transportation industry. Candidates will have detailed instruction in course content, review skills criteria for certification, and be inserviced on program administration and policy. Lastly, students must be monitored for a student teaching at a live program under the supervision of a faculty member. Once completed, candidates will become certified MAVO instructors and be eligible to certify individuals for work on licensed MAV agencies.
Please Note: Registrations must be prepaid for this program, and because a significant amount value of materials needs to be pre-mailed to students, a $90 cancellation fee is charged for students who receive materials but do not attend the program.
