The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an educational program jointly sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) along with the American Heart Association (AHA). The course has been designed to teach an evidence-based approach to resuscitation of the newborn to hospital staff who care for newborns at the time of delivery, including physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists. Since the inception of the NRP in 1987, over 3 million individuals in the United States and a countless number of individuals abroad have been trained in NRP.
Course Length: Student manual self-study and online test at AAP website, plus 4 hour skills course
Intended Audience: Clinicians who may be present at a birth, in environments such as Labor & Delivery, Emergency Department, Neonatal ICU, and Pre-Hospital Care/EMS.
